Individual That Grabbed Ariana Grande at Film Launch Prohibited from Singapore
An individual of Australian nationality who vaulted over a barricade and touched celebrity Ariana Grande has been deported and prohibited from Singapore.
The individual, aged 26, was sentenced to over a week in jail for being a public nuisance and has now been "prohibited from returning to Singapore," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority stated to Singaporean press.
He forced his way beyond security and charged at the performer and artist, who was participating in the regional launch for Wicked: For Good on 13 November. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.
Wen has a history of interrupting performances and celebrity events, including leaping onto the platform at the pop star's Australian show in the past June.
The event caused anger in Singapore, with several individuals claiming he of re-traumatising Grande.
The pop star has discussed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist bombing at her performance in Manchester in several years ago resulted in the deaths of over twenty people and hurt numerous attendees.
In the legal process, the judge was informed he had attempted to intrude on the movie's debut on two occasions, according to Singaporean media.
He then made a another effort to cross the barriers. Security staff intercepted him and restrained him.
He then uploaded video clips appreciating the celebrity for letting him on the carpet and said he was "released."
Law enforcement detained him the following day and accused him with public nuisance, to which he confessed.
The Presiding Judge the magistrate was cited by media reports as remarking that Wen was "attention seeking", noting that he was wrong to think he would not experience repercussions.
The actress has not spoken about the incident.
The co-star discussed the incident to a media outlet, remarking that she "just wanted to ensure my colleague was safe."
"I believe he had no intention to us harm, but you can't predict with these incidents, and I wanted to confirm that she was OK. That was my first instinct," she commented.
