Ex- Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients
Legal authorities report that a ex- physician stands accused of performing sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents outline the forty-five charges he is charged with:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
