Esteemed Actor Pat Finn, Famed For Roles in Seinfeld and The Middle, Dies at 60 Years Old.

American entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in beloved TV shows such as Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.

The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles recently following treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, per media reports.

"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - only friends he hadn't encountered," his family said in a message.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".

A Prolific Career on Screen

Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.

He also had a recurring role on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.

He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a social organizer famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.

During the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of hit series, including:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

Finn was perhaps best known for playing Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight series between 2011 and 2018.

His film credits encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Beyond his television work, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was part of a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils over the years and it's nearly impossible to find someone who has a bad thing to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Offering condolences, peer Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," he posted online.

The actor is survived by his wife Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
