American Armed Forces Executes Deadly Attack in Eastern Pacific, Leading to 4 Fatalities
According to a high-ranking military spokesperson, the American military carried out a fatal strike on a vessel in the Pacific Ocean, resulting in the deaths of four individuals.
âA US joint task force carried out a lethal kinetic strike on a craft operated by a terrorist group in international waters. Surveillance verified the vessel was transiting along a established drug smuggling route and was engaged in illicit drug transport. All four male narco-terrorists were killed, and no US military forces were harmed.â
Context and Recent Actions
This announcement follows a day after a declaration regarding a blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers to and from Venezuela. In that announcement on online platforms, the American leader accused Venezuela of using oil revenues to fund narcotics smuggling and criminal activities, pledging to increase the military buildup.
Just on the previous day, the Pentagon stated it had carried out strikes on three boats suspected of smuggling narcotics in the Pacific, leading to the deaths of eight people. Beginning on 2 September, over 20 military engagements have resulted in the deaths of at least 99 individuals, most off the coast of Venezuela.
Administration Defends Actions Amidst Pressure
The administration has encountered increasing pressure to make public video of a September 2nd vessel attack. But, officials have refused to do so. The administration has defended its efforts as a success, arguing it has prevented drugs from reaching US shores and has dismissed concerns that it is exceeding the bounds of legal military action.
While the administration has stated the operation is about stopping drugs headed to the US, comments from a top official seemed to confirm a broader political aim. In a recently published interview, the chief of staff said the leader âwants to keep on destroying vessels until the Venezuelan president cries uncle.â
This indicates the series of strikes may be linked to a strategy to remove Venezuela's current government.
